Junior Mechanical Draughtsman at Hire Resolve

Job Description

• A specialised engineering organisation is seeking a Junior Mechanical Draughtsman to join their technical team.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate 2D and 3D mechanical designs, technical drawings, layouts, and engineering documentation while supporting industrial engineering projects.
• The ideal candidate will have practical drafting experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment, with exposure to mechanical design, CAD software, technical drawings, and industrial mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create accurate 2D and 3D mechanical designs for industrial applications.
• Develop detailed mechanical drawings for:
• Weighing hoppers
• Feeders
• Silos
• Mechanical assemblies
• On-site mechanical systems
• Prepare batch plant layouts and support retrofit projects.
• Produce engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical documentation.
• Apply GD&T principles where required.
• Maintain drawing accuracy and ensure proper document control.
• Interpret technical specifications, engineering concepts, and project requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers, technical teams, and project stakeholders.
• Conduct site measurements and provide technical support.
• Assist with troubleshooting and mechanical design improvements.

Minimum Requirements:

• National Diploma or Certificate in Engineering Draughting or a related field (NQF Level 5/6).
• Minimum 2–3 years' practical experience in a drafting role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Experience with mechanical drafting and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in CAD software, preferably AutoCAD.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy.
