    Junior Purchasing Specialist

    The Role

    • My client in the packaging industry is looking for a young, vibrant candidates who are wanting to building in career logistics and purchasing. The role is based in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town at the companies head office.


    • Purchasing of IML and BR labels from local and international suppliers
    • Collaborating with sales team regarding customer requirements
    • Conducting supplier benchmarking & issuing RFQ/Tenders
    • Improving and maintaining of relevant supplier measures
    • Buying necessary labels as per customer requests, budgets and projections
    • Running relevant forecasts reports for customer updates and creating projection reports
    • Reporting weekly to sales team and customers regarding label stock levels
    • Ensuring that relevant labels are available as needed
    • Ensuring that customers approve the order of labels
    • Placing orders with suppliers timeously
    • Liaising with label suppliers to track label orders and informing planning
    • Ensuring consistently that labels received are of required quality
    • Managing relevant quality complaints and resolution
    • Initiating customer invoicing procedures and payment confirmation
    • Managing the artwork life cycle:
      • Submission
      • Approval
      • Maintain
      • Disposal
    • Updating costing system with new label prices
    • Following up on GRV credits
    • Submission of all relevant paperwork for supplier payments and follow up on queries
    • Running & Updating ad hoc reports as required
    • Following all relevant ISO procedures

    To be considered for this position applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

    • Have a BCom or a Purchasing Diploma
    • At least 6 years’ experience in an administrative role or sales admin role in a manufacturing environment
    • SAP knowledge (highly recommended) or similar Be highly computer literate (Excel essential)
    • Be highly numerate & computer literate
    • Be highly capable in MS Excel
    • An ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders
    • An ability to negotiate cost effective prices
    • An energetic, positive personality
    • An ability to organize effectively
    • An ability to deal with pressure
    • Have excellent problem-solving skills
    • An ability to work effectively with customers
    • Be assertive

    This position is open to all individuals who meet the relevant minimum criteria. Psychometric testing may be required as part of this process
