    Junior Statistician: Research

    Requirements

    • An Honours degree in Statistics, and a Master’s (MSc) degree in Statistics will be an added advantage. With at least three (3) years of relevant experience in Statistics 
    •  Must have at least one year of experience in data mining, statistical analysis and interpretation 
    •  Good knowledge in using SAS and SQL 
    •  Exposure to survey designs, sampling techniques, data capturing and data analysis. 
    •  The incumbent must be dynamic, self-motivated, self-managing, and able to work under pressure alone or with teamwork. A valid driver’s license. 
    • Good communication skills and good interpersonal skills. 

    Essential criteria: 

    • The successful applicant must have a proven knowledge of SAS programming and data mining using SAS and SQL. 
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools like Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word and Project Management.

    Duties

    • The successful candidate will handle the statistical aspects of research conducted by Umalusi. Assist in maintaining and developing an adequate in-house database for the extensive analysis of assessment results for Umalusi. Assist with processing of data for standardisation and resulting purposes. Provide support to all Umalusi units in terms of their statistical requirements.
