Junior Tax Specialist at AfroCentric Group

Duties and responsibilities for this role:

• Assisting Group Tax specialist of Afrocentric Health Group to achieve group tax targets by driving the Afrocentric Health Group brand, business development, technical tax competence values;
• Assisting Group Tax specialist in interpreting and applying theoretical knowledge to a practical business solution by utilising a sound knowledge of income tax, Value Added Tax, Withholding Tax and corporate law;
• Assisting Group Tax specialist in preparing and/or reviewing income tax, Withholding Tax, Value added tax, Security Transfer Tax, Divided Tax and Deferred tax calculations and submitting returns to SARS;
• Reviewing tax computations for the internal and external auditors; and assist with audit follow-up queries;
• Assisting Group Tax specialist in drafting technically correct opinions and reports for review and reviewing tax opinions and advise to be provided to clients and the audit department.
• Gathering information from different sources by using effective research tools;
• Assisting Group Tax specialist with the research and preparation of proposals;
• Identifying income tax issues arising at clients and use various tools and techniques to provide suggestions on how to solve them;
• Adapting to a changing work environment and accommodate changing client demands;
• Liaising with business with regards to tax issues;
• Liaising with SARS regarding any Adhoc queries;
• Visiting subsidiaries to remediate tax issues and assist subsidiaries of the group with SARS audit and queries;
• Managing and maintaining subsidiaries relationships; and
• Producing accurate work and tax deliverables to a high technical standard.

Qualifications:

• BCom Accounting; or
• BCom Honours in Accounting or Taxation;
• M.Com, or Hdip (Tax) advantageous; and also
• CTA will be advantageous.

Professional designation:

• SAICA and/or SAIT

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Tax consultant in a Big 4, or
• Medical Schemes Industry or Manufacturing Industry will be advantageous and
• Experience working with and interpreting financial accounting records, Tax legislation and Identifying Tax risks
