Lab & Process Engineer at Jotun

The Role

• As a Lab & Process Engineer you will be responsible for quality of the paint produced, this entails possessing the expertise within relevant areas, as well as contributing and advising in professional matters to ensure that Jotun South Africa operates within applicable regulations. This position is based in Cape Town and directly reports to the Operations Manager.  

Duties and responsibilities

• Modify the manufacturing process to the plant suitability and reduce loss factor within the factory and report findings to Operations Manager.
• Sequence Raw materials into the formulations – with guidelines from R&D Labs and do testing to ensure it is correct and co-ordinate with Corporate & Regional Lab & ME manufacturing plants – as per needs and if required take trial batches at required sites.
• Open new codes and remove from assortment for the new products and old products required by marketing.
• Co-ordinate with Marketing, accounts, material procurement department and Order fulfilment department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry essential
• 3-5 years’ experience within the manufacturing / chemical environment essential
• Processing & engineering background essential
• Knowledge of the Paint Industry advantageous
• PC Literacy / MS Office skills essential
• Lean principles advantageous
• Ability to communicate in English & Afrikaans
