Lead Analyst - Johannesburg at Quantium

What would I be doing?

• This is a unique opportunity in the South African market, where you will help to unlock the potential of data for our clients and their customers.

Within the team you will:

• Work on highly impactful projects that are often “firsts” for our clients and firsts for ourselves
• Deliver high quality analytics / data science projects, from scoping, data quality assessment, data manipulation, method selection, model building, insights generation and visualisation
• Gain exposure to projects in both South Africa and our other global offices.
• Tell stories with data by being able to reduce complexity into simple explanations for non-technical audiences
• Present and interrogate solutions with key business stakeholders ranging from banking executives, marketers, board members and analytics domain experts.
• Lead a project team of highly capable, ambitious Analysts
• Proactively participate in learning forums and knowledge shares with Quantium globally
• Play a key role in developing the culture of our evolving and growing office

What skills and experience do I need?

We’re looking to hire a Lead Analyst that can provide technical leadership in the scoping and delivery of projects; so demonstrable experience doing this is paramount.

We know people are not bullet points, but we would expect you to have:

• A desire to provide technical leadership, whilst continuing to develop your own technical skills
• Experience across descriptive, predictive and productionised analytics
• Strong technical coding experience using Python or R
• Experience solving commercial problems and generating insights from large customer or transactional data sets
• Experience delivering real-world analytical solutions to business problems
• Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skillset
• Previous leadership experience and strong analytical and technical capability
• A collaborative style and the ability to work with and positively influence a variety of people across all levels
• Proven experience working with retail customer or banking transactional data is advantageous
• A technical degree, such as Actuarial, Maths/Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics etc.
