Job Advert Summary    
PURPOSE:

• To effectively coordinate processes across the mining value chain with an aim of increasing overall system throughput.
• To make facts based decisions to optimise value throughout the business value chain from the pit right through to the port.
• To drive technical and process improvements through increasing system wide availability and utilisation and reducing variability in order to maximize installed system capacity.
• To ensure that the business is aligned and works towards one single integrated production schedule.
• To monitor and track operational performance and the execution of the integrated production schedule.

MAJOR CHALLENGES:

• Working with and managing multi-disciplinary teams across multiple reporting lines.
• Managing what may superficially appear to be conflicting needs from multiple teams within the value chain.
• Fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration across multiple teams.
• Striving for daily incremental operational improvement.
• Managing product flow, buffers and constraints.
• Assessing operational, financial and safety related risks and preparing adequate contingencies.
• Contractor management.

Minimum Requirements    

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    BEng Industrial Engineering (Essential/Minimum or)
•    BSc Mining Engineering (Essential/Minimum or)
•    BSc Metallurgical Engineering (Essential/Minimum or)
•    BEng Mining Engineering (Essential/Minimum or)
•    BEng Metallurgical Engineering (Essential/Minimum or)
•    BSc Industrial Engineering (Essential/Minimum)
•    Certificate First Line Management (Essential/Minimum)

EXPERIENCE: 

•  5 years Relevant operation planning and execution experience in mining environment or similar industry.  (Essential/Minimum) Operational

REQUIREMENTS: 

•    Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum)

Duties & Responsibilities    
Compliance, Governance, Assurance & SHEC    

• Develop effective methodologies for business operations, communications and control whereby statutory compliance and appropriate mitigation of risk is achieved
• Develop operating procedures to align with business objectives
• Ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS)/Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA)/South African National Standards (SANS) and compliance with company specific Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC) policies and procedures
• Manage risk and monitor standards in line with the Company’s policies and regulations
• Create awareness for Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) practices
• Assess all relevant risks

Customer and Client Relationship Management    

• Support core business by ensuring appropriate stakeholder relationships toward enhancing corporate profile
• Manage internal and external relations, including interface with external providers or other functions responsible to ensure that business needs are met, and employees are satisfied
• Provide relevant support and legislative service to applicable stakeholders
• Manage relationships with contractors providing services to Mining, Beneficiation and Logistics
• Establish sound relationships with service departments ensuring flawless integration and support into the Integrated Operations (Ops) Value Chain

Effective People Management    

• Ensure optimised teamwork through motivation/empowerment and leading by sound transformational leadership
• Promote teamwork, provide support and manage performance by creating and maintaining individual development plans for subordinates
• Enforce discipline throughout the Business Unit Value Chain
• Ensure all employees in the Business Unit Value Chain are effectively trained and competent to perform required duties in a disciplined manner

Financial Management, Planning and Cost Control    

• Assist in preparation of annual budget by providing input to all departments based on usage and expenditure monitored in the Integrated Ops Hub
• Ensure documentation is in line with departmental budgetary stipulations
• Ensure that costs allocated for projects, planning and associated tasks are within specified projections and are controlled within the prescribed budget

Project Management and Continuous Improvement    

• Monitor Value Chain throughput and identify Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities
• Analyse data captured in the Integrated Ops Hub and identify potential bottle necks in the value chain
• Identify and rank initiatives based on priorities
• Assist the Project Engineer with the capital approval process
• Assist with capital and cost management of specified projects
• Assist the Project Engineer with the Execution of Projects
• Identify and implement Digital Improvement Initiatives

Safe and Healthy Work Environment    

• Establish and maintain a healthy environment and safe operations Practices throughout the Market to Resource value chain
• Ensure compliance with all applicable SHE policies and procedures in line with set standards
• Encourage a culture that focuses on SHE in all operations
• Set design standards in accordance with safe work principles
• Promote adherence to all SHE practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis
• Address all unsafe practices and potential hazardous situations, rectify and report to superior
• Comply with SHE requirements at all times

Technical Support    

• Provide expert technical and operational support to the production teams, departments and individuals
• Responsible for the technical and operational integrity and quality of work delivered through participation in short term interval control review meetings, operations review meetings and any other team integration platforms
• Manage integration of operational activities across multiple disciplines
• Apply Systems Thinking Methodology to improve volume throughput across the value chains
• Gather and evaluate information throughout the value chain in order to make informed decisions that supports the execution of short, medium and long-term plans
