    Lecturer: Ceramics (Visual Arts)

    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    • To facilitate the acquisition of knowledge, creative skills and thinking by individuals in the undergraduate and postgraduate field of visual art with particular focus on Ceramics and 3D studies, materials, techniques, process and application.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Facilitate the learning processes in the department
    • Conduct research and/or contribute creative outputs
    • Perform assessments, curriculum development and administration
    • Support postgraduate research in the Visual Arts programme
    • Develop and maintain national engagement practices

    CORE COMPETENCIES

    • Expert knowledge of the theory and practice of Ceramics and 3-dimensional studies, drawing, representation, interpretation and conceptualization techniques, mixed media, and cross disciplinary practice.
    • A broad range of fabrication methods and skills, both traditional and contemporary within Ceramics, ceramic design and the wider field of the visual arts.
    • Expert knowledge of art theory and history, specifically as it pertains to Ceramics and 3-dimensional studies.
    • Experience of a variety of teaching and learning methodologies at undergraduate and postgraduate level
    • Demonstrate evidence of ongoing creative practice and national engagement.
    • Proven competencies in the functions pertinent to the managing, stocking and maintenance of a large studio environment.
    • Computer literacies commensurate with the requirements of all forms of lecture delivery, academic administration and the studio and student management.
    • Sound knowledge and management of all health and safety requirement in the studio environment
    • Established engagement practice and networks through liaison with professional, peers and the creative arts industry
    • Experience with local and national community visual arts outreach programmes
    • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is vitally important

    Requirements

    • In order to be considered for appointment to this post, candidates should have a relevant Masters qualification.
    • Normally 2 years relevant and / or related working experience
