    Lecturer/Junior Lecturer: Computer Applications Technology (6-Month Contract) Re-advertisement

    Minimum requirements: Lecturer

    • A relevant Master's or Honours degree in Computer Applications Technology (CAT) (preference for a relevant Master's degree).
    • Computer Applications Technology (CAT) as a major at the undergraduate level.
    • A relevant teaching qualification with CAT as a major (preferably at secondary school level).
    • At least five years' experience teaching CAT at secondary school level, or at least two years' experience teaching CAT at tertiary level.
    • Experience in the preparation, evaluation and moderation of meaningful teaching experiences for FET Phase CAT students.
    • Teaching or mentoring experience with pre‑service teachers.

    Recommendations:

    • Experience with WIL supervision.
    • Experience in setting and moderating CAT examinations and PATs.

    Minimum Requirements: Junior Lecturer

    • A relevant Honours degree in Computer Applications Technology (CAT)

    • A relevant teaching qualification with CAT as a major (preferably at secondary school level).
    • At least five years' experience teaching CAT at secondary school level, or at least two years' experience teaching CAT at tertiary level.
    • Experience in the preparation, evaluation and moderation of meaningful teaching experiences for FET Phase CAT students.
    • Teaching or mentoring experience with pre‑service teachers.

    Recommendations:

    • Experience with WIL supervision.

    Kindly note that preference will be given to applicants who meet the requirements at Lecturer level.

    Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

    Teaching & Learning

    • Deliver all CAT and Curriculum Studies modules across B.Ed. 1–4.
    • Integrate CAT disciplinary rigour with teacher?education goals.
    • Support deep learning and applied competence.

    Curriculum Development and Alignment

    • Ensure alignment between: CAT subject content, CAPS requirements and B.Ed. learning outcomes.
    • Maintain coherence across years, assessments and WIL tasks.
    • Update learning activities in response to CAT examination practices.

    Assessment and Feedback

    • Develop valid, reliable and fair assessments.
    • Manage internal and external moderation processes.
    • Assess PAT and Teacher Portfolios.
    • Provide timely and transparent feedback.

    Student Mentoring & Support

    • Support academic and professional development of pre?service teachers.
    • Monitor progression and readiness for school teaching.
    • Offer structured consultation and support.

    Compliance & Ethical Practice

    • Enforce plagiarism and assessment regulations.
    • Model ethical ICT use.
    • Apply institutional rules fairly and consistently.

    Professional Engagement

    • Engage with school-based CAT assessment practices.
    • Maintain currency in CAT teaching, assessment and moderation expectations.

    Quality assurance and continuous improvement

    • Participate in moderation and review processes.
    • Use assessment data to improve teaching and curriculum design.
    • Engage in reflective practice and programme evaluation.

    Academic administration and governance

    • Manage LMS records, marks and submissions (Blackboard specifically).
    • Follow communication, assessment and reporting protocols.
    • Participate in departmental and programme-related activities.
    • Supervision of students during teaching practice.
    • Meticulous planning and organizing skills/Time Management.
    • Ability to align yourself to hybrid teaching and learning models (face-to-face and on-line learning).

    Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision)

    • Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
