    Lecturer - Theatre and Performance (Voice) - Wits School of Arts

    Duties:

    • Teaching theory and practice of Voice as Professional Development at Under Graduate, Graduate, Honours, Masters or Short Course levels;
    • Compiling the course outline and course reading material;
    • Monitoring and reporting on student attendance and progress;
    • Coordinating course examinations and submission of course marks;
    • Research Supervision at Honours and Master’s levels
    • Contributing personal creative and traditional research output to Theatre and Performance, WSOA;
    • Support with academic administration, departmental governance, school level committee representation, student consultations, attend staff meetings and related activities as workload allows.
    • Willingness to develop and integrate the voice teaching and development with the Musical Theatre Program-specifically in regards to singing, vocal range and extending skill support. 

    Qualifications and Requirements: 

    • (Minimal Requirement) Master’s degree in the Vocal Field in the Dramatic Arts as a professional field of specialisation; Demonstrating a clear PhD trajectory.
    • Certification of Vocal Specialist 
    • Evidence of personal creative and, or traditional forms of research (innovative workshops, performances, arts interventions, chapters, videography and documentary etc.)
    • Evidence of ongoing skills training and improvement.
    • Evidence of a professional footprint
    • Supervision record
    • Evidence of Academic citizenship or university teaching experience. 
    • Teaching experience in in Voice and then more of the following specialisations:
    • Musical Theatre, Performance Theory, Acting Training & Technical Theatre Studies.
