    Legal Counsel - Optipower (Bedfordview)

    Introduction

    The Legal Counsel will responsible for providing accurate and timely legal advice to the business. This will include input into tenders, contracts, client interface and managing disputes. Responsibilities include researching and evaluating different risk factors and offering proactive advice on possible legal issues

    Key Performance Indicators 

    • Advise on a variety of legal issues and legal risks pertaining to tenders and contracts and lead in any dispute resolution process.
    • Explain legal language and provide expert opinion on entitlement claims and contract law advice to project teams.
    • Draft, review, edit, interpret, and advise on contracts and other legal documents.
    • Oversee all contractual obligations and negotiate claims, settlements, possibility of new work and change of scope with clients.
    • Research and report on unique legal issues impacting the business
    • Keep abreast of legislative changes that may affect the business.
    • Work collaboratively with various departments to ensure compliance.
    • Serve as liaison between the business and external attorneys.
    • Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forces.
    • Maintain professional and timely communications.
    • Document and maintain legal files and issues.

    Minimum requirements

    Qualifications and Experience:

    •  4-year LLB or similar (essential) Admitted Attorney (preferred)
    • Minimum of 5 years legal experience in construction or a similar contracting environment – renewables industry experience advantageous.
    • Working experience of FIDIC NEC, GCC and Bespoke contracts.
