Legal Counsel - Regulatory at Samsung Electronics

Responsibilities Include:-

• Keeping abreast with new legal developments and changes in regulatory requirements and developments;
• Review documentation, processes and procedures to ensure compliance with laws and regulatory requirements;
• Development and implementation of documentation, processes and procedures in line with laws and regulatory requirements;
• Monitoring compliance and facilitating intervention to manage risks;
• Assist with providing and development of compliance training;
• Engaging with internal and external stakeholders on compliance and regulatory requirements;
• Performing compliance audits and compiling reports and / or rectification plans;
• Facilitate regulatory compliance to guide and direct the Company to maintain an excellent reputation.
• Ability to liaise with key regulatory authorities;
• Ensure compliance of the product portfolio in line with corporate requirements and the various laws and regulations pertaining to registrations;
• Attending to ad hoc compliance and legal queries as required.

• Good working knowledge of South African law in general, but with particular focus on regulatory compliance in the retail industry (eg. Competition related matters, NRCS, ICASA and POPI).

Qualification & Experience

• LLB, admitted attorney or practicing advocate in South Africa;
• An accredited qualification in regulatory and compliance assurance will be an added advantage;
• At least 6 years relevant post-qualification experience;
• Highly beneficial if the candidate has the following:
  • experience in a regulatory affairs in the telecoms and consumer electronic environment
  • tax & excise exposure / knowledge 
  • knowledge of the ICT sector and regulatory framework
• Extensive knowledge of industry specific regulations;
• General knowledge and experience in regulatory compliance issues.
