Locksmith (Re-advertisement) at Cape Peninsula University of Technology

Job Purpose

• To adjust, maintain, repair, and replaces door locks, padlocks, tumbler locks, combination locks, and various other lock hardware. The incumbent will also be responsible to ensure that the integrity and security of all CPUT assets is maintain through proper management of all the locking systems of the facilities and auxiliary equipment.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Grade 10
• Must be registered with the Locksmith's Association of South Africa (LASA) and the Private Security Industry Regulator Authority (PSIRA)
• Minimum of 5 years working in the construction sector doing Locksmithing tasks.
• A valid driver licence.
• Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
• Check job cards on BMJLS system and sign-off jobs completed
• Cut new or duplicate keys from existing keys, patterns, or codes
• Install, repair, adjust, and replace locks and other door closures around various buildings and facilities.
• Provide new/replacement keys and open up locks
• Repair and maintain existing lock systems
• Keep accurate records of keys
• Maintain Master key stem
• Scheduling of work and priority of works to be completed 
• Safety - Ensure that safety measure are observed & report health and safety  issues           
• Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Maintenance Foreman or Maintenance Manager
