Locum/Temporary Professional Nurse (All CPUT Campuses) - (6803) at Cape Peninsula University of Technology

Job Purpose

CPUT Campus Health Clinic is looking for Locum/Temporary Professional Nurses available as relieve Professional Nurses.

The Professional Nurses will be required to provide necessary holistic medical care as a Professional Nurse to students on campus:

• Health Awareness Programs and Health Education
• Pharmacy /Medication Control and Administration
• HIV Counselling, Testing and HIV Wellness
• Reproductive Health
• TB Management
• Lab Investigations and interpretations
• Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Service
• Ensure COVID-19 Compliance in the Work environment
• Record keeping as per electronic and paper-based system

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• A 4-year qualification in Nursing and Midwifery or equivalent qualification.
• A one-year post-basic qualification in Primary Health Care (R48).
• Proof of Current Registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• Proof of Completion of a recognized Dispensing Course (Dispensing license will be an advantage)
• At least four (4) years' experience as a Professional Nurse in Primary Health Care.

Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

Primary Health Care

• Provide Primary Healthcare services that are in line with CPUT Vision 2030 and in compliance with relevant Legislations, Nursing Acts and SOPs.
• High Standard Primary Health Care Services are provided to Students and limited services to Staff.
• Ensure up-to-date practice in line with DOH and Professional Registration Bodies.

Health Awareness

• Provide health education during consultations.
• Provide clients with health information during scheduled Health Events Days
• Team up with colleagues in rolling out health awareness programmes.

Assist in Emergencies

• Attend to medical emergencies in the absence of Medical Doctor.
• Arrange transport to carry patients in case of emergency referrals.
• Decide on appropriate intervention in the case of emergency on campus.
• Conduct routine check on emergency equipment with the relevant Health practitioner on weekly basis.

• Clinical competency in accordance with the R48 Regulations.
• Good communication skills both written and verbal.
• Display sound Interpersonal skills in a high-pressure performance environment
• Knowledge of South African Health, Pharmaceutical and SANC regulations.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Ability to multitask.
• Computer Literacy (MS Outlook email, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
