Lead the creation and implementation of best practice logistics, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance & customer experience
Plan, manage and evaluate logistics operations liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics providers, transportation companies and customers
Lead, create and implement best practice logistics principles, policies and processes across the organisation to improve operational and financial performance
Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirements
Provides guidance, leadership and coordination to warehouse and customer service teams
Lead the tracking of delivery times, transport costs and efficiency to site and customers
Develop and monitor key performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvements
Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities
Drive and track compliance for logistics policies and procedures, including but not limited to:
Driver and delivery standard operating procedure
Maintain delivery fleet in acceptable mechanical condition
Maintain delivery fleet in a clean condition
Ensure the capture and tracking of all POD’s both local and long distance
Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements with the help of direct reports, including but not limited to;
Ensure weekly stock reconciliations of off-site warehouse systems balances to our SAP system - Ensure monthly stock count procedures are executed at Chilleweni and at our raw materials stores at Ophirton and Antalis.
Ensure metrics, reports, and process documentation is available
Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Minimum of 10 years in Warehousing and Stock Control.
Minimum of 4 years in a middle management role.
A Diploma in Logistics & Warehousing or relevant tertiary qualification.
Knowledge of stock control, freight and distribution systems, inventory management, demand and supply planning.
Strong project management skills.
Strong problem solving skills
