Maintenance Assistant - Grain Field Chickens Abattoir , Reitz at VKB Group

Job description.

• The successful incumbent will be responsible for assisting a qualified artisan with the day-to-day duties in a particular trade and will have sufficient relevant experience to perform the assistant work required.

Job requirements

• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 Equivalent.
• N2 Certificate - Electrical or Mechanical.
• Practical mechanical experience in an abattoir/ manufacturing plant.
• Related mechanical courses done will be advantageous.
• Willingness to work overtime incl. shifts, weekends/ holidays when required.

Duties and responsibilities

Will be the assistant to the artisan with the following:

• Maintaining, cleaning and sorting of the workshop.
• Limit downtime in the plant to prevent unnecessary loss of production.
• Daily inspection of all machinery and tools inside the production plant and writing a report about inspection findings.
• Ensure monthly planned maintenance on all machinery and tools are done as specified.
• Inspect conveyers continuously to ensure conveyers are operational and functional in order for production to continue.
• Repair all relevant buildings and infrastructure on request of management
• Assist with breakdowns in the plant to repair damage as soon as possible and ensure minimum breakdown time.
• To liaise with internal departments on an ongoing basis to ensure the quality of service and products.
