Job Description

• A leading manufacturing company in Durban is looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead its maintenance team and oversee the reliability and performance of plant machinery and equipment.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for driving a proactive maintenance culture, ensuring preventative maintenance is effectively planned and implemented, and minimising equipment downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the maintenance team.
• Oversee all preventative and planned maintenance activities.
• Develop and implement proactive maintenance strategies.
• Ensure maximum machinery and equipment uptime.
• Manage breakdowns, repairs and maintenance schedules.
• Identify potential equipment failures and implement preventative measures.
• Ensure maintenance activities are completed efficiently and within required timeframes.
• Monitor maintenance costs, resources and performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance function.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and operational standards.
• Work closely with production to minimise downtime and improve operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering – essential.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Maintenance Manager – non-negotiable.
• Experience within the paper industry or manufacturing environment is essential.
• Experience working with fast-moving machinery.
• Strong knowledge of preventative and proactive maintenance.
• Proven experience leading and managing a maintenance team.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent planning and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
