Maintenance Millwright - JHB at Alstom

Purpose of the Job

The purpose of this role is to perform inspections, maintenance, installations, restoration, and repairs of production equipment within a train manufacturing environment. The position reports to Site Maintenance Engineering Manager

Key responsibilities include the following:

• Performs electrical and mechanical isolations and applies for permit to work
• Understands and puts into practice all codes, standards, and procedures for safe work
• Carries out electrical and mechanical system inspections and reports on performance issues
• Document’s repair and inspection activities to ensure accurate record keeping
• Supervises electrical apprentices and performs planned job observations
• Ensure all maintenance activities are performed to set quality standards without rework or abnormal overtime
• Works to ensure achievement of schedule compliance targets
• Adhere to health and safety standards, and ensure good housekeeping in and around the plant and workshop
• Take part in root cause analysis and suggest ways of improving equipment and processes

Requirements:

• N3 Millwright (Electro-Mechanical)
• N6 will be advantegeous
• Trade Tested Millwright
• 3 years’ experience working on AC and DC drives
• 3 years’ experience in automated environments
• Fault finding of single and three phase circuits, relay logic, PLC’s, DC, and AC Drives
• Read P&ID, electrical, and mechanical diagrams
• Knowledge of process monitoring instruments
• Fault-finding techniques/ analytical skills
