Maintenance Support Engineer at Clariant

• Optimisation of electrical and instrumentation maintenance, completing replacement investment projects and ensuring OHSA legal compliance on site.

Responsibilities

Safety Management.

• Adhere to all site PPE, safety requirements, safe operating procedures and work instructions.
• Attend safety training, safety committee meetings, induction and medical examinations.
• Appointed as GMR 2.7(a), Authorised Electrical Official and Installation Engineer.
• Ensure all ISO 18001 safety and ISO 14001 environmental requirements are met.
• All SAPGA control responsibilities.
• All SIS/SIL safety instrumented system responsibilities.

Maintenance Support.

• Control the electrical/instrumentation maintenance maturity program.
• Perform acting duties.
• Perform standby and overtime duties.
• Perform and design optimisation and safety modifications.
• Conduct trials to improve performance and/or reduce cost.
• Conduct breakdown investigations.
• Compile QCPs for routine repairs.
• Ensure site electrical compliance to the OHSA and Regulations.
• Shutdown planning and control.
• PLC and SCADA software development and maintenance.
• Major breakdown repair supervision and control.

Maintenance Management.

• Maintain availability of plant.
• Cost control.
• Optimise maintenance activities.
• Conduct repair investigations.

Project Management .

• Control and Instrumentation system design for capital projects.
• Compilation of technical scopes and tender documents.
• Planning, scheduling, implementation, and commissioning of projects.
• Project administration and internal project team management.
• Management of project contracting teams and staff.
• Ensure completed projects meet design and performance criteria.
• Technical support to other project managers and project teams.

Automation System Management .

• Implement Clariant digitization and development of automation/information system strategies and standards.
• Implement standardization strategies for automation systems.
• Maintain version upgrades/replacement of automation server and operating systems.
• Maintain version upgrades/replacement of PLC/SCADA software.
• Continous development of information/archive systems to ensure quality and availability of process data.
• Ensure strategies in place for replacement of discontinued automation systems.
• Maintain backups and backup systems of automation software and projects.
• Ensure compliance to Clariant GL29 - Industrial Control Systems Security.

Administration.

• All legal documentation, reports and certificates saved in specified locations on the server.
• All projects documentation saved on the file server.

Housekeeping And Other.

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work area through regular housekeeping and 5S activities.
• Provide mentorship guidance for employees.
• Self-development and new technology implementation.

Requirements

• Electrical/Instrumentation engineering qualification (Diploma or higher) with PLC (Siemens + Mitsubishi) systems developer training.
• 5 years experience in heavy industry environment.
• Chemical plant safety and technical knowledge.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office, Projects and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
• Maintenance, project management and Government Certificate of Competency will be an advantage.
• Electrical Installation Practitioner Certificate will be an advantage.
• MV Switching certificate.
• Certified Industrial Gas Practitioner
