Job Description

• An exciting opportunity is available for a qualified Management Accountant/Financial Controller to join a dynamic team in managing a portfolio of operations within the retail sector. This role offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a large, established group with diverse business interests based in the North of Cape Town.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a qualified accountant (diploma or higher).
• Proficiency in Sage/Pastel or similar accounting systems (Autoline/Kerridge advantageous).
• Strong analytical skills.
• Advanced Excel knowledge.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities, as the role involves direct interaction with senior financial management.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, retail-driven environment.
• Capable of working under pressure and adhering to strict deadlines, especially during month-end processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation and enhancement of management accounts.
• Assisting with the implementation of finance department controls.
• Reviewing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and work in progress.
• Monitoring bank allocations.
• Overseeing ad-hoc payments.
• Preparing VAT submissions from the accounting system.
• Identifying and resolving finance-related issues across departments.
• Conducting monthly reviews of intercompany balances, including loans.
• Liaising with auditors and preparing financial audit documentation.
• Performing reconciliations for designated accounts.
• Supporting ad-hoc financial projects as required.
