Manager- IT Infrastructure (Pinelands) at Western Cape Blood Service

Main purpose of the role:

• Reporting to the Head of IT, the successful candidate will join a dynamic IT Management Team in a technical management role responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of IT Infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing IT technologies and IT Infrastructure personnel, developing and establishing IT infrastructure standards and procedures and ensuring continuous availability of IT Infrastructure which is vital in supporting a continuous and safe supply of blood.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the IT Infrastructure team
• Develop IT Infrastructure budgets and manage IT Infrastructure expenditure
• Oversee all aspects of IT Infrastructure Services within SLA and Service Availability KPI’s, including end user computing, communication (WAN, LAN, etc), hyper-converged infrastructure, virtualisation, database administration, storage, performance, uptime and compliance
• Develop & report on preventative maintenance plans and capacity management
• Enhance IT Architecture and look for continuous improvement opportunities
• Develop and maintain infrastructure policies and procedures
• Manage Infrastructure Procurement and vendor relationships
• Work closely with the Information Security Manager to enhance IT Security
• Develop, maintain and regularly test Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity Plans

Requirements
Minimum requirements and experience:

• National Diploma or Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science
• 7 – 10 years in a medium to large enterprise’s IT Infrastructure environment with minimum 5 years demonstrable leadership experience
• Budget preparation and cost management in an IT Infrastructure environment
• Proven ability to establish strategic direction and provide the roadmap of initiatives and priorities in support of that vision
• Must have a strong hands-on/technical knowledge of core Microsoft technologies including but not limited to Windows Servers, Active Directory, MS SQL and core Network concepts like LAN/WAN, subnets, firewalls, VLAN's, and VPN
• 5 years Microsoft Architecture experience
• 3 years VMWare / VEEAM technical experience
• Fortinet network and security technology experience
• Valid Code B driver’s license without endorsements is essential
