    Manager, Risk Governance

    JOB SUMMARY:

    • The Manager, Risk Governance will work as part of the Risk Governance team supporting the CRO, South Africa and Southern Africa Cluster to ensure the Enterprise Risk Management Framework is effectively communicated and implemented across SCBJ and Southern Africa Cluster. The position will also entail support in administering related governance and reporting activities, co-ordinating and providing input into Group Policies and Procedures on behalf of the Risk Function. Further, the role will support implementation of regulatory change management relating to risk management and ensure compliance with rules, regulations and directives for Bank supervision and reporting is achieved.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Business:

    • Assisting CCRO and Cluster in the implementation and on-going support for Bank's Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework (ERMF) in support of the Risk Management Strategy.
    • Engage internal stakeholders across the Cluster to support effectiveness of risk management processes and compliance with internal policies and regulations.

    Regulatory:

    • Support CCRO to implement regulatory reforms through liaison with internal stakeholders including relevant parties in Cluster and Group, and also to prepare for engagements with local regulators and in responding to any requests for information.
    • Contribute in the preparation of relevant regulatory returns/reports for Risk Function prior to submission to Regulators.

    Processes:

    • Maintain adequate processes to ensure effective execution in the Risk Function and alignment of standards across Cluster.
    • Provide support towards improving risk data quality with infrastructure and other risk teams, support the governance of the BCBS239 Programme.
    • Foster a culture that continuously improve the operational efficiencies and effectiveness of risk management processes.

    Risk Management:

    • Support the CRO to ensure adoption of Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) and requirements across the Cluster.
    • Contribute in localization, implementation and on-going maintenance of Bank-wide Enterprise Risk Management Framework ("ERMF") and Principal Risk Type Frameworks.
    • Implement and on-going maintenance of the Risk Appetite Statement ("RAS") and with monthly tracking, reporting and governance over closure of metrics breaches across the Cluster.
    • Assist in drafting of risk management information to understand risks across Cluster and mitigation measures
    • Implementation of relevant risk management projects and initiatives.

    Governance:

    • Support and facilitate administration of Risk Committees across Cluster and ensure adherence to Governance Standards.
    • Maintain local adoption of Group policies, standards and procedures and effective implementation across Cluster.
    • Coordinate with all internal stakeholders and risk management across Cluster to ensure Business/First Line and 2LOD follow the risk management requirements.
    • Documentation and follow up on commitments on risk management activities within the Cluster.
    • Participate in Internal Audit Reviews and attend to audit enquires.
    • Support Cluster in risk reporting to Region.

    • Group Enterprise Risk Management team
    • Accountable Executives for various regulatory projects
    • Group Internal Audit

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Region, Cluster, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures.

    Our Ideal Candidate:

    • Experience /Academic Qualifications: 5 years' experience of functional experience in the areas of Risk and Compliance
    • Degree in Risk Management, Finance, Commerce or equivalent would be beneficial
    • Relevant Licenses and Certifications/accreditations, i.e. internal & external
    • Relevant Professional Memberships; i.e. required for roles for continuous development/ improvement/awareness of current practices etc.
    • Languages: English (Good communication skill; both written & oral skills)
    • Experience of working with regulators and banking industry association.
