    Manager : Stores

    The Role

    • In pursuit of the ideals of excellence and diversity, the University of Pretoria wishes to invite applications for the following vacancy.     Responsibilities
    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Providing strategic leadership in managing and optimizing organizational spend through the acquisition of quality goods and services from preferred vendors within a stipulated budget and time frame;
    • Effectively and efficiently manage all the stores in the Department of Facilities Management for the benefit of the wider University to effect optimal functioning of the storekeeping; procurement and; service level agreements of preferred vendors;
    • To apply best practice principles of storekeeping, store safety, and stock control, and value for money procurement policies;
    • To establish and maintain a loyal and motivated staff responsible for the running of store services in the department for the greater good of the University and community;
    • To serve as a link between suppliers and users (consumers) of goods in the University.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Three-year National Diploma in Purchasing or Materials Management OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management;
    • Valid Driver’s license;
    • 5 years of relevant experience.

    Required Competencies (skills, Knowledge And Behavioural Attributes)

    • Extensive knowledge of stock management and stock control;
    • Knowledge of suppliers’ market and appropriate products;
    • Stores management;
    • Procurement methods and financial systems;
    • Planning, organising, guidance, control, and functional standards;
    • Report writing;
    • Knowledge of warehouse systems;
    • Thorough knowledge of procurement management and principles;
    • Knowledge of stock specifications and dispatch stock management;
    • Familiarity with the MS Office Suite of applications;
    • Extensive knowledge of procurement.

    Added Advantages And Preferences

    • Managerial experience at an institution of higher learning.
    • A thorough understanding of the procurement environment and the management of Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
