Manager - Tax Consulting - Johannesburg at Forvis Mazars Group

Job Description    

• An opportunity exists in the Tax Consulting Division of Mazars; an international professional services firm, based at Mazars House in Johannesburg. Independently acquires and leads assignments in a specialised areas of tax; to carry out research relating to a variety of tax issues (covering the full spectrum of taxes) and to compile appropriate reports/opinions/letters and other documents. The candidate will also be required to review reports/opinions/letters and other documents prepared by tax advisors and senior tax advisors; and to liaise with clients, their advisors and SARS where appropriate; and to actively engage in business development opportunities to existing and potential clients.

Duties and Responsibilities    

• Manage client portfolios from inception to conclusion, including debtors, proposals/fee estimates and engagements
• Assist with business development

Minimum Requirements    
Experience/abilities

• Demonstrated experience in corporate and international tax, VAT and strong technical knowledge is preferred
• Can formulate sound legal arguments to support and manage a dispute process
• Liaising with SARS and clients
• Identification of tax solutions and tax planning
• Ability to meet deadlines and work in a team
• Ability to manage matters
• Experience in building and developing client relationships
• Preparing tax opinions, reports and step plans
• Experience in dispute resolution
• Keeping up with technical developments
• Preparing training and seminars
• Managers Debtors and collections within the department

Qualifications

• PQE of 6-8 years tax experience, at least 2 years should have been in a role where management responsibilities were exercised;
• Accounting or law degree and a tax qualification (admitted attorney would be an advantage) is preferred with strong tax technical experience; and
• Relevant and recognised Tax qualification
