    Manufacturing Training Manager

    An opportunity exists for a Training Manager to join National Brands Limited.

    Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Development Manager, the successful individual will be responsible for supporting our five factories (Gauteng and KZN) and provide training direction within the technical and operations functions to ensure skill and competency levels support improved plant performance.

    We are looking for an experienced Training Manager who enjoys a fast-paced environment, values the opportunity to make a difference, and has an exceptional ability to implement training programmes that meaningfully connect employees with business objectives.

    Responsibilities

    • Identify training and skills gaps through line discussions, interviews, or assessments to standards
    • Review existing training processes, material and assessments
    • Develop solutions to close gaps
    • Prepare a project plan and co-ordinate resources for training program
    • Monitor and assess project plans and roll out including monthly tracking reports
    • Research business needs i.t.o of business training requirements
    • Identify suitable partners who meet SETA, preferential Procurement, industry experience etc. requirements
    • Ensure necessary documentation is completed and submitted to L&D for review
    • Review documentation
    • Identify apprenticeship needs per site and communicate to obtain approval
    • Identify and assess accredited training facilities
    • Recruit apprentices, select based on scoring and interviews and finalise contracts with each individual
    • Co-ordinate initiation for apprentices and prepare for practical training at each site
    • Compliance with requirements for apprenticeship assessments
    • Monitor apprentice performance at training facilities and at the sites
    • Production lines scoped and mapped to determine required competencies, and Operators and Artisans assessed against required competences
    • Skills and competencies mapped for critical positions and documented on skills matrices.
    • Generic SOP’s developed for basic competencies to the correct standard
    • Develop specific and targeted training SOP’s and other training documents for equipment specific competencies, including quick fault finding, changeover and setup
    • Track operator and artisan performance improvements and whether training is fit for purpose
    • Liaise with OEM’s, where necessary, for classroom and practical training

    Experience and Qualifications required

    • A minimum of 5 years experience as a Training Manager/Specialist and Assessor of a training centre or in a similar environment supporting multiple manufacturing sites (Factories)
    • Professional registration with QCTO
    • NQF Level 6 - OD-EDTP
    • Registered Skills Facilitator
    • NAMB Assessor
    • Trade Test Official
    • Moderator
    • Valid Driver’s License required
    • Ability to travel essential
