    Marketing Actuarial Graduate

    About The Role

    We are looking for an intellectually curious, highly motivated and passionate Graduate to join our Life & Health (L&H) Client Markets Team in Cape Town. You will play an important role in the pricing of life & health business as well as in the development and design of products and services to meet our client's needs.
    You will support us in providing high quality actuarial input to both clients and the cross-functional team within Swiss Re. Through great teamwork and collaboration you will gain a deep understanding of the L&H reinsurance market, you will learn about our various products, how we do pricing and how to sign off quotes from a technical standpoint. We will also give you the opportunity to participate and contribute to projects as well as to the development of innovative, market leading reinsurance solutions that are relevant to the wider Swiss Re Group.

    Specific responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:

    • Support the day-to-day pricing work across different lines of business in the target markets
    • Perform analysis on data relating to emerging risk experience
    • Contribute to the design of insurance products consistent with the pricing basis and risk management environment
    • Provide quotes to clients, specifically with group risk benefits
    • Collect, analyse and present data collected for annual industry-wide surveys.

    About You

    • Successfully completed university degree in Actuarial Sciences or equivalent
    • Minimum of 5 Actuarial Exemptions obtained
    • Re/insurance experiences gained through vacation work or internships is an advantage
    • Strong interest in/motivation to learn about reinsurance
    • Strong communication and presentation skills
    • Approaches problems with curiosity and open-mindedness, is a fast learner
    • Innovative, showing a high degree of own initiative
    • Team-player, willingness to contribute actively to the overall team spirit
    • Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment
    • Aptitude to express him-/herself effectively in one-on-one conversations and small groups
    • Mature & self-confident; able to work with clients, business partners or senior colleagues
    • Capacity to readily adapt to a changing and dynamic environment
    • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
    • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g. R) is an advantage
    • Flexible and resilient
    • Pro-active
    • Self-motivated, thriving on the opportunity to work in a pressurised environment
