    Marketing and Communications Manager

    Position Overview

    • The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution and continuous improvement of the marketing and communications function.
    • Reporting to the Chief Growth & Marketing Officer, the role is responsible for translating business objectives into commercially focused marketing strategies that strengthen the brand, generate qualified business opportunities, support the Business Development team and position the business as a market leader within the commercial and industrial renewable energy sector.
    • The role requires an experienced marketing professional who can operate with a high degree of autonomy, take ownership of the marketing function and provide strategic marketing leadership to support the company’s commercial growth.

    Key Responsibilities
    Strategic Vision and Alignment

    • Develop and execute the company’s marketing strategy in alignment with its commercial objectives and long-term growth strategy.
    • Position marketing as a key driver of business growth by generating qualified opportunities, strengthening the brand and supporting the Business Development team throughout the customer acquisition journey.
    • Collaborate closely with the Chief Growth & Marketing Officer, Business Development team and Executive Committee to translate business priorities into measurable marketing initiatives.
    • Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns that increase market awareness, improve customer engagement and contribute to pipeline growth.
    • Ensure all marketing activities are aligned to clearly defined business objectives and measurable return on investment.
    • Strengthen the company’s position as the preferred renewable energy partner for commercial and industrial customers across sub-Saharan Africa.
    • Ensure all marketing communications consistently reflect the brand, values and strategic market positioning.
    • Continuously identify new opportunities, market trends and customer insights that support the company’s long-term commercial strategy.

    Commercial Marketing & Sales Enablement

    • Work closely with the Business Development team to develop marketing initiatives that directly support sales growth and customer acquisition.
    • Develop compelling product positioning, value propositions and messaging across the company’s products and services to ensure clear differentiation within the market.
    • Produce and continuously improve customer-facing sales collateral, case studies, presentations and proposal templates.
    • Support new product launches and go-to-market strategies.
    • Conduct competitor and market research to identify opportunities and strengthen the company’s market position.
    • Measure marketing’s contribution to business development and pipeline growth.
    • Develop high-quality executive presentations, investment collateral and customer-facing material that supports business development, investor engagement and strategic communication.

    Digital Marketing

    • Plan, implement and manage the SEO strategy, including web analytics, information design, keyword research, implementation and optimisation.
    • Produce engaging content for ATL and BTL marketing channels.
    • Manage and implement the social media strategy in line with the marketing plan.
    • Oversee digital strategy, including lead generation, SMA and SEM.
    • Develop and optimise the social media strategy.
    • Manage the company website.

    Content Creation

    • Develop persuasive copy concepts based on research, keyword analysis and client feedback.
    • Oversee multimedia content production, including video and imagery.
    • Produce valuable and engaging content, including website content, newsletters, client brochures and thought leadership articles.
    • Set content standards and guidelines.
    • Foster creativity and quality in content production.

    Reputation Management

    • Manage the company’s reputation online and offline.
    • Produce all B2B communications.
    • Manage and update branding materials in accordance with the corporate identity.
    • Manage and coordinate company events and conferences.
    • Safeguard the brand image and reputation.
    • Lead PR and communications efforts.
    • Work with high-profile clients on PR initiatives and content creation.
    • Manage high-profile events.

    Monitoring and Evaluation

    • Support the leadership team in building and maintaining strong partnerships and supplier relationships.
    • Prepare and manage the marketing budget.
    • Measure, analyse and report on marketing performance, campaign effectiveness, brand awareness, lead generation performance and contribution to business development objectives.
    • Establish KPIs and assess campaign effectiveness.
    • Develop departmental KPIs and report quarterly.
    • Continuously integrate innovative marketing practices.

    Leadership

    • Lead, mentor, manage and develop the marketing team.
    • Manage and develop the Social Media Coordinator through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
    • Liaise with freelancers and agencies.
    • Foster a culture of learning through training programmes.
    • Build a collaborative, accountable and high-performing marketing culture.
    • Identify capability gaps and training opportunities within the department.
    • Create a scalable marketing function that is supported by documented processes and continuous improvement rather than individual knowledge.

    Stakeholder Interaction

    • Communicate marketing plans and strategies to senior management and stakeholders.
    • Arrange staff training related to marketing competencies.
    • Collaborate with HR to coordinate CSI events.
    • Marketing Operations & Continuous Improvement
    • Develop and implement efficient marketing processes and standard operating procedures.
    • Continuously improve the effectiveness of marketing systems, reporting and workflows.
    • Manage external agencies, suppliers and freelancers to ensure consistent quality and value.
    • Ensure marketing activities are delivered on time, within budget and aligned with business priorities.
    • Evaluate and implement marketing technologies and tools that improve efficiency, reporting and campaign effectiveness.

    Education, Experience & Skills
    Essential

    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5–6 years’ experience in B2B marketing.
    • Demonstrated success in developing and executing integrated marketing strategies.
    • Proven experience supporting commercial or business development teams through marketing initiatives.
    • Strong understanding of digital marketing, lead generation and content marketing.
    • Experience using data and analytics to drive decision-making and campaign optimisation.
    • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
    • Experience leading and developing marketing teams.
    • Demonstrates curiosity, commercial awareness and a continuous improvement mindset.

    Advantageous

    • Experience marketing technical or engineering-based products or services.
    • Experience within the renewable energy, engineering, infrastructure, industrial manufacturing, logistics or technology sectors.
    • Exposure to CRM platforms and marketing automation.
    • Experience managing thought leadership, public relations and executive communications.
