    Marketing Manager

    (Product Development focus)

    The successful incumbent will be responsible for driving the growth and profitability of several product groups in a highly competitive marketplace. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the following key performance areas, which relate to new product development, strategic planning and category management function

    New product development:

    • Driving new product development from concept to promotion which includes the following activities:
    • coordinating and launch of new product lines,
    • preparation of new product costs,
    • market research (price surveys, trade and competitor analysis),
    • sales projections,
    • budgets and promotional campaigns.
    • Identify and research new product opportunities, both locally and internationally.
    • Attend international trade fairs and liaise with international associates so as to keep abreast of world market trends and identify new product development opportunities.
    • Oversee packaging design (briefing and co-ordination of creative work with design agencies).

    Strategic product planning:

    • Pricing strategies for new and existing products – support and guide National Key Accounts Managers.

    Category management:

    • Statistical analysis of data to assist in sales forecasts and category budgets.
    • Develop and implement promotional plans to increase consumer affinity and brand awareness.
    • Supporting and guiding National Key Accounts Managers with margin management and pricing strategies for new and existing products.
    • Assist the Field Sales team in compiling, implementing and maintaining planograms.
    • Assist field sales in implementation of merchandising strategies for new products, negotiation of shelf space, reports on competitor activity and customer returns.
    • Assist field sales in implementation of merchandising strategies for new products and the negotiation of shelf space.
    • Product ranging

    Qualification Required

    • Appropriate tertiary qualification
    • Successful and demonstrable FMCG marketing experience (min 3-5 years), as well as a well-developed business and operational acumen.
    • Well-schooled in strategic analysis, market trend evaluations and new product/market development.
    • Experience in new product launches, brand management and project management
