    Mechanical Engineer Level

    Main Purpose Of Job

    • To assist the Principal or Senior Mechanical Engineer to carry out all mechanical engineering and design work in accordance with applicable codes and practices that meets all requirements of the contract. Also, to assist the Principal or Senior Mechanical Engineer in ensuring all work is carried out within agreed schedules, budgets and procedures in a safe manner.
    • To conduct engineering and design work in accordance with Worley’s Management System (MS) under the supervision of a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer, as per the requirements set out in the Technical Stewardship Standard.
    • The Engineer II would be seconded to projects in a relevant sector to gain experience and become familiar with the Worley’s procedures and methods of doing work and would also work under supervision. The Engineer II would also take part in supervised, site-based work if the opportunity presents.
    • Must be able to work in both business lines (Refining & Chemicals and MMM)

    Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities

    • Undertake mechanical engineering and design activities as required by the project, which could include system and/or equipment calculations, mechanical datasheets, engineering requisitions, mechanical equipment lists, technical bid evaluations, mechanical design criteria, input into the Basis of Design document, SEAL plan input, relevant design drawings and other mechanical Utilise
    • approved software and other analysis tools (like validated spreadsheets) for the design of mechanical equipment. Engineering related deliverables.
    • Liaising with other discipline engineers on technical issues and engineering matters, including the provision of discipline specific advice on issues not covered by design guides.
    • Develop an understanding of national, industry codes and standards and Customer specifications.
    • Support the Mechanical Engineering team on projects to complete the design work on time within the available workhour budget and obtain experience and on-the-job training of the Worley’s procedures and work methods.

    • Undertake site support activities during construction and/or commissioning for the purpose of gaining practical experience and understanding practical aspects of design.
    • Responsible for personal safety and understands the Asset Lifecycle implications of the design and ensure that hazards / risks are being identified and mitigated and to adhere to safe working practices. Understand and implement all legal requirements as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and/or the Mines Health and Safety Act within Mechanical Engineering.
    • Responsible to keep regular contact with Mentor, set up mentor meetings, keep minutes as well as updating his ECSA training plan and write Technical Experience Reports. This is all required to register as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng with ECSA.

    Essential Skills/Experience

    Skills/ Competencies:

    • Technical and practical estimating skills and able to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its customers.
    • Knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the discipline, including ability to plan, review and present cost engineering and cost estimating products
    • Knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
    • Competent in the use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and discipline specific software and tools. Cleopatra would be beneficial.
    • Previous technical, practical and leadership experience in the relevant discipline, including experience in estimating.
    • An understanding in performing and reviewing estimates and experience in executing and supervising estimates.

    Education/ Minimum Requirements

    • BSc, BEng, BTech or MSc/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience if allowed by law.
    • Registered as a Candidate Engineer or Candidate Engineering Technologist with ECSA.

    Experience

    • Minimum 5+ years (BSc/BEng/BTech) or 4+ year (MSc/MEng) of post qualification experience.

    Special Conditions Attached To The Job
