Mechanical Engineering Internship at Afrimat

Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Requirements

• Grade 12 certificate
• Minimum qualification National Diploma/Bachelor’s degree
• Must pass Afrimat Medical fitness certification
• Valid SA ID
• Valid Driver’s License
• Must be effective in using MS OFFICE (Excel, Word and OUTLOOK) as a minimum

Duties and responsibilities (not limited to):

• The candidate will be required to work with and assist artisans and operational staff to learn and understand how equipment is used and maintained for reliability.
• Adaptable to change
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
• Willing to travel and work in outdoor mining environments
• Must have sufficient theoretical and technical knowledge of mechanical equipment.
• Must be analytical and a problem solver
• Must be a fast learner
• Must demonstrate basic understanding of Mechanical Systems and their application
• Inspect equipment and identify reliability issues with team members and schedule repair interactions
• Replace parts on operational equipment
• Repair parts / components on equipment
• Be part of the on site oil health team
• Perform Root Cause Analysis to improve reliability and prevent reoccurrence of failures
• Be able to take lead and supervise a team of production or maintenance personnel where required by site management
• This is a remote site-based position. This is not an office-based position
