Job Purpose

• The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to render technical services and support in engineering research, design, manufacturing, operations and maintenance.

Minimum Requirements

• An appropriate 3-year National Diploma in Engineering Mechanical or relevant qualification
• Compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as an Engineering Technician
• A minimum of 3 years relevant post qualification technical (Engineering) experience
• A valid code B driving licence.

Key Performance Areas

Render technical services

• Assist Engineers, Technologists and associates in field, workshop, and technical office activities
• Promote safety in line with statutory and regulatory requirements
• Evaluate existing technical manuals, standard drawings and procedures to incorporate new technology and review and or produce technical designs with specifications and submit for evaluation and approval by the relevant authority
• Perform administrative and related functions
• Provide input into the budgeting process as required
• Compile and submit reports as required
• Provide and consolidate inputs to the technical/engineering operational plan
• Develop, implement and maintain databases and supervise and control technical and related personnel and assets

• Continuous professional development to keep up with new technologies and procedures

Remuneration

• Grade A: R 391 671 - Grade C: R 586 665 per annum, (Salary will be determined based on post registration experience as per OSD prescribed).
