Mechanical Fitter at Novus Holdings Ltd

Job Description    

• Perform complete scheduled/planned overhaul of rotating equipment
• Perform breakdown overhauls on unplanned equipment failures
• Perform overhauls of any piece of mechanical equipment in the plant, for example: pumps, gearboxes, rolls, fans, mixers, blowers, air compressors etc.
• Rig up to 2.5 T during standard maintenance activities
• Complete predictive maintenance activities
• Perform standby duties and work overtime when required
• Uphold aspects of and perform required activities relating to the OHS Act as delegated by the Maintenance Manager

Educational Requirements    

• Matric
• N6 Certificate
• Trade tested as Fitter and Turner

Experience Requirements    

• 3 to 5 years working experience in a similar environment

Skills and Competencies    

• General knowledge in overhauling of pump, fans, gearboxes, sprockets, blowers, mixers, valves, screw conveyors, rolls
• Overhaul equipment by stripping, examining, replacing and repairing faulty parts, then reassemble
• Read and work to mechanical drawings
• Hands-on person with excellent problem solving skills
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems
• Knowledge of PLC's
• Diagnostic and fault finding skills (RCA)
• Basic knowledge of condition monitoring and troubleshooting
• Ability to work without supervision
