Mechanical Fitter at Phakisa Group

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Install, assemble, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment and machinery on site
• Perform routine inspections, fault finding, and preventative maintenance on plant equipment
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
• Align, fit, and secure components using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
• Dismantle and reassemble pumps, valves, gearboxes, turbines, and related mechanical systems
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety regulations and site procedures
• Identify mechanical defects and recommend corrective actions
• Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to ensure efficient workflow
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete job reports
• Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment, and materials
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments
• Assist with shutdowns, breakdowns, and emergency repairs as required
• Adhere to quality standards and ensure all installations meet required specifications
