Mechanical Specialist at McCain Foods

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

• Ensure availability of mechanical equipment, significant reduction of Mechanical downtime across the plant. Analyze and recommend correct material of construction to remove repetitive failure and ensure reduction of repetitive failures across the plant and season improvements.

KEY PERFOMANCE AREA:

• Ensure longevity of plant and machine availability
• Significant reduction of mechanical breakdowns in the plant
• Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance activities.
• Conduct Route Cause Analysis (RCA’s) and A3’s to ensure no repetitive mechanical failures.
• Analyze and establish correct material of construction for specific applications.
• Conduct fitting, turning, assembly of OPEX projects in the plant.
• Spearhead Mechanical continuous improvements in the plant.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as trade tested Fitter and Turner.
• Intense knowledge of material of construction,
• Understanding of LOTO (Lock-Out Tag-Out) and equipment guarding.
• Strong leadership, mechanical OPEX (Operational Expenditure) projects.
• Strong sense mechanical assembling principles
• Strong Mechanical Engineering principles
• Passed Fitter and Turner Trade test

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:

• Steam Peeler, roller grader and conveying.
• Bean line assembly, bean cutters experience.
• Corn cutter assembly, maintenance and operational experience.
• AK hopper maintenance, assembly and operational experience.
• Corn husker assembly, maintenance, set up and operational.
• Hydraulics and Pneumatics drawings, circuits, assembly, operation and trouble shooting
• Ability to read, interpret and execute mechanical machines, gearboxes, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics and valve drawings.
• Strong Knowledge of centrifugal and positive displacement pump assembly, operation and trouble shooting
• Ability to conduct fitting and turning on plant equipment to ensure longevity of equipment availability
