Our client in the Manufacturing Industry has a role available for a Mechatronics Engineer to be based in Cape Town. The primary responsibilities will be programming of PLCs and HMIs. They will also be responsible for wiring up control panels and connecting to the various sensors.
Job Duties:
Program and troubleshoot Siemens PLCs and HMIs
Develop, modify, and maintain automation software for industrial systems
Wire, assemble, and test electrical control panels
Specify, install, and commission instrumentation and field devices
Specify and install cabling for instrumentation, control signals, and compressors
Produce and maintain electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Perform fault finding and diagnostics on electrical and control systems
Assist with commissioning, testing, and site installations
Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical and safety standards
Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and project teams to deliver projects on time
Job Requirements:
Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or a related field
Experience with Siemens PLCs and HMI platforms (TIA Portal preferred)
Experience wiring industrial control panels
Understanding of instrumentation and industrial control systems
Ability to read and create wiring diagrams and electrical schematics
Knowledge of industrial cabling practices and installation standards
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Willingness to work on-site and travel when required
