    Medical Affairs Manager - JHB

    Purpose of Role:
    To liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to promote awareness of Servier disease areas, related clinical evidence and product(s) information as well as to support other key medical affairs activities and processes
     build and sustain an integrated plan for medical affairs that compliments and enhances the company strategy and objectives

    •  Identify business opportunities and challenges and use influence to prioritize and progress these
    •  Drive a high-performance culture in alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
    •  Oversee the translation of strategy into action plans and manage and monitor the implementation thereof, adapting plans where needed.
    •  Develop capabilities to measure and predict business risks with regards to medical affairs (MA)
    •  Build, maintain and refine analytics to improve efficiencies and reduce costs where possible in a responsible and sustainable manner.
    •  Build and maintain sound trusted advisor relationships with Servier staff and management at all levels, both locally and globally, through open, proactive and regular communication and ensure internal teams understand the function’s mandate and value.
    •  Build sound relationships with external stakeholders in ways that facilitate the achievement of Servier’s objectives.
    •  Take ownership and responsibility for task completion and follow-up.
    •  Conducting market research and analysis to identify the needs and preferences of different stakeholders, such as regulators, insurers, physicians, and patients.
    •  Developing value propositions and evidence-based arguments to demonstrate the clinical and economic benefits of the company's products.
    •  Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as sales, marketing, market access, and regulatory affairs, to align market access objectives and activities with the overall business strategy.
    •   To keep abreast of the latest medical and scientific knowledge within our disease entities in order to present to healthcare professionals and decision makers with accurate, unbiased, balanced and timely answers to unsolicited request for information.
    •  Establish and maintain scientific and clinical relationships with Therapeutic area experts (TAEs) to expand research and educational opportunities in the company’s therapeutic areas.
    •  To provide strategic input to the company Oncology portfolio plan & business decision making
    •  Proactive and reactive communication of medical scientific data to leading Specialists & other relevant stakeholders.
    •  Supporting other departments with portfolio related requirements, whilst acting as a reference point for scientific queries
    •  Document and forward reports of adverse events and quality complaints to appropriate personnel,
    •  keep abreast of medical and scientific developments in the therapeutic area.
    •  Develop and deliver scientific/educational programs for managed care and related organizations.
    •  Assist agency personnel in the development of scientific communication, publications, presentations and slide kits.
    •  Actively participate in advisory boards, speaker training events, clinical investigator meetings, regional national and international meetings when required.
    •  Lead the in-field execution of the therapeutic area Medical Plan; meet regularly with identified TAEsto provide ongoing, balanced scientific exchange related to on-label indications and disease state(s)
    •  Proactively identify and develop long term peer-to-peer relationships with TAEs and other relevant stakeholders
    •  Respond to unsolicited requests from HCPs for medical information (including off-label information) related to Servier marketed products and Servier pipeline products.
    •  Support scientific training of Servier contracted speakers by providing ongoing support and education as needed.
    •  Provide medical booth and session coverage at scientific meetings and report information of strategic interest to cross-functional internal stakeholders.

    Minimum Required:

    •  Science degree: Pharmacist or MSc/PhD Degree or Medical Degree
    •  At least 3 – 5 years working experience as a Medical Advisor, Product Management or Medical Scientific Liaison
    •  Deep scientific knowledge on the therapeutic areas (Hypertension, Diabetes and Cardiovascular)
    •  Excellent communication skills
    •  Solid and stable relationships with TAEs
    •  Senior Business and Health Science Acumen
    •  Ability to work within a matrix to work independently, as well as part of a team.
