Qualification that allows registration with HPCSA as Medical Officer. Current registration with HPCSA as Medical Practitioner. Must have completed community service.
Completion of additional training courses such as Orthopaedic-related courses or ATLS is advantageous. Ability and willingness to participate in compulsory commuted overtime.
Duties :
Clinical management of Orthopaedic patients as a Medical Officer at Helen Joseph/Rahima Moosa Hospital Complex. Daily collaboration with registrars and consultants regarding patient care.
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures appropriate to the role of a Medical Officer. Does post intake and follow-up ward rounds and supervising junior staff. Managing patients attending Orthopaedic Outpatient Departments and Subspeciality Clinics. Consultations and patient management within speciality wards. Manage acute trauma patients in the emergency department and wards.
Assist in and perform operative procedures for trauma and elective orthopaedic cases in theatre. Participate in after-hour calls and ward rounds as required. Act as a role model and mentor for junior doctors and associated clinical staff, demonstrating exemplary professional conduct. Participate in the multidisciplinary team.
