A degree (MBCHB) or equivalent, Registration with HPCSA as an Independent Medical Practitioner, Proof of current registration with HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner, Independent Practice. At least 3 years’ experience as a Medical Officer or Registrar in Ophthalmology. FCO Exam Qualification will be an added advantage.
Duties :
Provide a quality cost effective and efficient 24-hours Ophthalmology Services in keeping with Batho-Pele Principles. Management of all designated areas of responsibility within the Ophthalmology department at Tembisa Hospital, conducting of clinics, ward rounds and consultations to other disciplines, Drawing up of protocols for patients and wards/clinic management.
Performance of procedures relevant to the discipline. Assist with the training and guidance of Medical Interns, Junior Medical Officers and other staff categories working in Ophthalmology Department.
Maintain accurate and appropriate health records in accordance with the above. Participation in the academic programs of the department. Performing regular audits of the department. Liaising with the hospital management and other agencies to ensure the efficient provision of clinical Ophthalmology services in the hospital and district.
