Medical Specialist Grade 1 - 3 (Critical Care) Sessional Post
Senior/National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery plus registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Anesthesiology, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology , Cardio-Thoracic Surgery or Neurosurgery.
Current registration with the HPCSA from 01 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.
Medical Specialist Grade 1 no experience after registration with HPCSA,
Medical Specialist Grade 2 - A minimum of 05 years’ experience after registration with HPCSA and
Medical Specialist Grade 3 - A minimum of 10 years’ experience after registration with HPCSA in a normal Speciality.
Experience in a Critical Care or willingness to pursue a Critical Care fellowship will be an advantage.
Duties :
Provide optimal services 20 hours per week. This will include after-hours work ( weekends and weekdays).The specialist will be a member of the multidisciplinary critical care team that manages High Care and Critical Unit patients.
Specific duties include : Sessional clinical services provision within the Unit of Critical Care for the prescribed period, Patient management and supervision of junior medical staff, Participation in the critical care academic program, Participation in departmental research activities.
