Medical Specialist Grade 1 Family Physician (Joint Appointment with the University of the Witwatersrand)
Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Family Medicine. Current registration with the HPCSA as a Specialist: Family Physician.
Proven experience in clinical governance, teaching, and supervision at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level will be an advantage. Evidence of involvement in research, continuous professional development, and academic collaboration is desirable.
Duties :
Provide clinical leadership and oversight in the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive, and integrated family medicine and primary healthcare services within the Johannesburg Health District.
Support the implementation of clinical governance and quality improvement activities within district health facilities. In collaboration with the University of the Witwatersrand, conduct teaching, training, and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and registrars.
Participate in research, academic development, and scholarly activities in alignment with the joint appointment agreement. Support health system strengthening, capacity building, and service integration in line with district and provincial strategic priorities.
Perform outreach and support functions to strengthen primary healthcare platforms. Perform administrative, leadership, and reporting obligations as delegated by the Head of Clinical Unit and the University.
