Medical Specialist Grade 1 to 3 (Radiology) (Groote Schuur Hospital)
Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Medical Specialist in Radiology.
Excellent team player. Good clinical expertise in general radiology with a subspeciality interest that can be developed. Good record of clinical governance, research, teaching, and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Diagnostic Radiology. Excellent managerial, interpersonal, leadership, administrative, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to supervise training and mentorship of registrars and junior radiologists.
Grade 1: None after registration with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Radiology.
Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years’ appropriate experience after registration with the HPCSA (or recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of a foreign qualified employee) as a Medical Specialist in Radiology.
Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years appropriate experience after registration with the HPCSA (Or as recognised foreign Health Professional council in respect of a foreign qualified employee) as a Medical Specialist in Radiology.
Participate in the after-hours call system. Commuted overtime is compulsory.
Provide supervision of clinical service delivery within the Radiology Division to ensure excellent clinical services of diagnosis, investigations, and treatment in inpatient, outpatient and emergency contexts.
Take overall responsibility for the comprehensive Diagnostic Imaging Radiology service at Groote Schuur and New Somerset Hospital, reporting to the Head of Department.
Responsible for a strong academic program within the wider Radiology teaching program, including relevant research and continuing medical education for staff.
Liaise and collaborate with all surgical and medical disciplines to support the delivery of best practices for patient care. Responsible for corporate governance and management activities, ensuring quality outputs and optimal use of resources.
Communications skills including report generation, letter writing, consultation, verbal skills, liaison with support service, nursing and Professions Allied to Medicine. Coordinate and manage afterhours support for Diagnostic Radiology services. Coordinate and participate in outreach programs to the facility’s drainage area.
Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Radiology.
Grade 1: R 1 341 855 - R 1 422 810 per annum, Grade 2: R 1 531 032 - R 1 623 609, Grade 3: R 1 773 222 - R 2 212 680 per annum A portion of the package can be structured according to the individual’s personal needs.
