Medical Specialist Obstetric and Gynaecology (Steve Biko Academic Hospital Cluster) at SADOCS

Requirements :

• Senior/National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery plus MMed (O&G) or FCOG (SA.
• Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
• Current registration with the HPCSA. Medical Specialist Grade 1 no experience after registration with (HPCSA),
• Medical Specialist Grade 2- A minimum of 05 years experience after registration with (HPCSA) ,
• Medical Specialist Grade 3- A minimum of 10 years after registration with (HPCSA) in a normal Speciality. Significate experience and interest in Maternal and Fetal medicine and the certificate in Maternal and Fetal medicine (CMSA) with HPCSA registration as a sub-specialist will be an added advantage.
• The candidate should be able to demonstrate teaching experience and research success, preferably including publications. Experince in teaching and learning , supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Duties :

• Render, organize and oversee inpatient and outpatient services in general obstetrics, high-risk pregnancies, obstetric medicine and fetal medicine.
• Coordinate and render comprehensive assessment, management and referral of women with high-risk pregnancies.
• Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of protocols, SOPs, audits, compliance standards, training and outreach to the cluster.
• Ensure adherence to policies and protocols, promote quality improvement and optimise the use of resources. This is an academic position with significant undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training and research responsibilities.
• Engagement in departmental academic activities, supervision and curriculum development will be expected. Commuted overtime is compulsory.
