Minimum Requirements: MBBCh/ MBCHB, Medical Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology– MMED Obstetrics and Gynaecology and FCOG and active registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Grade 1- experience not applicable, registration with HPCSA as Medical Specialist Obstetrics & Gynaecologist.
Grade 2- 5 years appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
Grade 3- 10 years’ appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
Inherent requirements of the job: Participate in the after-hours call system (Commuted overtime is compulsory). Knowledge, Skills, Attributes and Abilities: sound clinical knowledge and experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology surgical skills and the Sustainable developmental goals on saving mothers. Colposcopy skills.
Possess adequate skills to be able to carry out surgery in Gynaecology & Obstetrics. Knowledge of Human Resource Management, Information Management and Quality Assurance Programs.
Knowledge of current Health and Public Service Legislation, Regulations and Policies. Knowledge of Medical Ethics, knowledge of budget control, epidemiology and statistics.
Excellent managerial, interpersonal, leadership, administrative, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to supervise, train and mentor medical officers and other junior members of staff.
Duties :
Participate in delivery of 24-hour in and outpatient obstetrics & gynaecology services within Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital. Participate in the development and supervision of medical officers, interns and students.
Provision of administrative assistance to the HOU on the development of clinical protocols, their implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Assist with the maintenance of standards of care and implementation of quality improvement programmes within the department. Conduct self-directed learning to expand knowledge base and skills. Comply with the Performance Management and Development System (Contracting, reviews and final assessment).
