    Dental Assistants

    Requirements :

    • Grade 12 with, a National Certificate in dental assisting or prior experience as a dental assistant registered with HPCSA. Proof of current registration with Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dental assistant.
    • Grade 1 a minimum of 1-9 years of experience as a dental assistant, for Grade 2 a minimum of 10 years & above of experience as a dental assistant. Valid manual drivers’ license is essential. Skills: Good communication skills, verbal and writing skills.

    Duties :

    • Assisting the dentist with all dental procedures when rendering treatment to patients, e.g., mixing materials and sterilizing the instruments. Maintaining infection control in dental clinic, hazardous waste management, cleaning, and dusting of the dental clinic.
    • Developing X-Rays where applicable. Assisting in theatre as well as during screening with Oral Hygienists. Liaise with dental clinics and other programmes. Administration duties: opening patients’ files, record daily and monthly statistics of services rendered. Be able to fill in VA2’s for the Requisition of consumables materials and stock control.
    • Answering phone calls, booking patients appointments, inventory control, equipment maintenance and reporting for equipment’s that needs to be repaired.

    Requirements :

    Duties :

    • The post is a joint appointment between Weskoppies Hospital and the School of Medicine at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Pretoria. Clinical service delivery: The development and management of clinical teams in a neuro psychiatric unit at Weskoppies hospital. Evaluation, management and treatment of psychiatric patients in line with the Mental Health Care Act 17 of 2002.
    • Clinical governance, risk management, coordination and oversight on psychiatric patient’s admissions, discharges, down referrals, periodicals and other relevant related areas. The development of services involving inpatient, outpatient and community services. Outreach services.
    • Medico-legal services: Assessments relevant to neuropsychiatry and giving evidence in a court of law and compiling related administrative and medico-legal reports. Forensic observations according to the Criminal Procedures Act 51/1977 and other relevant legislation as part of delegated duties. Budget management. Academic responsibilities include: The teaching and training of under- and postgraduate medical and health care sciences students and members of multi-disciplinary mental health teams.

    Medical Specialist - Psychiatry

    Requirements :

    • Minimum Requirements: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a medical specialist in psychiatry.     Duties :

    • Management of psychiatry at Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital in the provision of clinical care to mental health care users, teaching of under- and post graduate students. Manage own service delivery. Clinical service delivery: evaluation, management, care, treatment and rehabilitation of mental health care users in an acute psychiatric unit in a general hospital setting as well as outreach services where appropriate.
    • Ensure patient care is promoted to meet the National Core Standards for health, Batho Pele Principles and the Mental Health Care Act, 17 of 2002, and other relevant medico-legal regulations, aligning the needs of the population served with facilities in the hospital. Supervision of a multi-disciplinary group of mental health care providers and other relevant staff members.
    • Manage and run the Specialist Psychiatry Outpatients Clinic. Lead the multi-disciplinary ward rounds for in-patients.
    • Consultations for patients outside the psychiatry unit. Review and audit patients’ medical records. Administration: Perform administrative tasks related to patient management and student training.
    • Address patient complaints. Attend scheduled meetings with hospital management.
    • Contribute to electronic databases for research purposes. Coordinate duty lists and staff allocations in the department. Ensure recruitment and retention of staff in the department.
    • Liase with other departments and with other hospitals, district mental health services where required. Academic: Provision of teaching and learning to ensure that both under- and post graduate students are taught the required skills and are provided with opportunities to learn in a safe environment.
    • Assist in coordination of academic programs. Conduct appropriate research: Develop own interest and publish appropriately. Support post-graduate students with research projects.

    Operational Manager General PNA5

    Requirements :

    • Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 (standard 10). A Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/ degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse with Midwifery.
    • Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse with (Midwifery) with proof of current registration.

    • Be prepared to work shifts including rotating and relieving on night duty. Flexible to rotate to all Functional Business Unit (FBU) of the institution (internally and externally) including ABT.
