An appropriate qualification that allows registration with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist it the field of Paediatrics and Child Health. Current registration with HPCSA as a specialist for 2026/2027. (Grade 1 No experience as a specialist after registration, Grade 2 A minimum of 5 years' experience as a specialist after registration, Grade 3
A minimum of 10 years appropriate experience as a specialist after registration). Competencies, knowledge and skills: Good communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and conflict management, time management, flexibility and operational planning skills.
Ability to work independently, in groups and work under pressure. Clinical skill set to manage high volume patient numbers and to deliver optimal care to paediatric patients as determined by the needs of Tambo Memorial paediatric department. Be willing to work Commuted Overtime.
Duties :
Supervising the management of paediatric patients and coordinate any services needed for patient care including neonatal, general paeditrics and ambulatory paediatrics care.
Participate and assist in teaching junior doctors, nurses, undergraduate and postgraduate registrars. Contribute to service development, attend meetings and assist in managerial tasks.
Assist with management of resources including human, physical, financial, risk and waste. Monitoring of workflow, waiting lists, staff attendance and performance. Coordinate and conduct Outreach clinics at cluster hospitals and clinics.
Lead and coordinate in-service training. Secure and analyze physical and electronic records. Lead and adapt to changes in workplace. Communicate in workplace and in teamwork. Participate in clinical audit and research.
