A Certificate in Medical Technician that allows the registration with the HPCSA as Medical Technician in the category Histopathology Technique.
Experience in Forensic or Anatomical Histopathology laboratory:
Grade 1 no experience post qualification.
Grade 2 five (5) years’ experience post qualification.
Current registration with the HPCSA. Computer literacy (MS word, Excel, Power point, and Outlook).
Ability and willingness to work within groups and be involved in team activities.
Good Communication skills (Written and Verbal) Interpersonal Skills. Self-motivated. Ability to work under pressure.
Valid driver's license (Optional).
Duties :
Receive samples as per standard operating procedures; log relevant data whilst maintaining chain of custody.
Perform sample Analysis e.g. Put through, Processing; Embedding; Microtomy, frozen sections and Staining including Special Stains. Maintain laboratory equipment.
Ensure all quality assurance procedures are maintained to ensure production of valid results.
Make up all relevant reagents perform stock maintenance.
Be involved in document control and student training.
Perform filing. Archival and retrieval of sample material and documents.
