Metallurgy Manager (North West) at Samancor Chrome

PURPOSE:

Tlead the Metallurgy Team in the safe and cost-effective execution of all metallurgical, maintenance logistics processes ensuring high quality finished products.

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY:

• Manage SHEQ compliance within the Department through effective use of the Toolbox
• Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) tinitiate, investigate and report SHEQ status.

PEOPLE:

Manage the section:

• Ensure an enabling climate/culture in line with Samancor culture
• Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover
• Labour complement in line with budget 
• Achieve HDSA/Female and BBB-EE targets for the Department
• Manage performance against targets (IDP’s), ensure IDP’s are linked tperformance results and implemented as per plan and conduct career discussions with identified talent
• Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, overtime, misconduct, lateness, etc.)
• Coach and counsel people tensure improved performance levels
• Conduct recruitment interviews.

CUSTOMERS:

• Ensure customer satisfaction
• Key customers: Marketing, Smelters.

BUSINESS PROCESSES:

Metallurgy:

• Ensure the safe and environmentally friendly operation of the Metallurgical processes
• Manage the Metallurgical process
• Manage the Logistics process
• Ensure the Quality standards are maintained
• Liaise with Mining and Engineering tensure effective and efficient process flow.

GROWTH:

• Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence
• Develop growth opportunities in co-operation with Mineral Resources and Mining.

SHAREHOLDER VALUE:

• Manage the Metallurgy budget.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

• BSc / BTech Degree or NHD in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering
• At least 8 years’ Production experience
• At least 3 years Managerial experience.
• At least 3 years Mineral processing experience.

Additional qualifications:

• An MBA/MBL would be an advantage.

Skills:

• Computer literate

Knowledge:

• Metallurgy processes; Planned Maintenance, Logistic processes.
