Job Description    
Purpose and Responsibilities

Purpose of the job

• The incumbent is responsible for the calibration and maintenance of all inspection, measuring and test equipment in accordance with company international standards and specifications

Environmental, Safety & Health

• Direct responsibility for the Health, Safety and Environment of all fellow employees who either directly work in your area, or who visit the operational areas you are responsible for, either internal or external visitors. Including full legal & company compliance in areas under your responsibility.
• Develop a positive safety culture through the company Behavioral Safety Program

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Verification and calibration of Inspection, Measuring and test equipment.
• Maintain the electronic calibration register.
• Ensure that the appropriate piece of equipment is used for inspection, measuring and testing.
• Ensuring that the measurement uncertainty or graduation of the equipment concerned is consistent with the required measurement capability.
• Determine calibration and re-calibration frequencies for all listed inspection, measuring and test equipment
• Conduct measurement systems analysis to determine the capability of gages
• Ability to apply the relevant parts of the management system manual and related procedures
• Liaise with SANAS Accredited laboratories when calibration requirements exceed internal calibration capabilities.
• Ability to use digital measuring equipment to improve efficiency. (Digital Height Guage, UT, Digital Dial Indicator, CMM and related Software, Impact Tester, 3D SCAN

Inherent Requirements    
Qualifications/Experience and Knowledge Required

• Matric
• An appropriate qualification in Metrology
• Appropriate qualification in ISO 9001; ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 and ISO 19011.
• 5 years’ experience in the field of metrology
• Be fully conversant with international calibration standards and specifications.
• 2 years of MS Office user experience at an advanced level

Competencies and behaviour required

• Ability to describe the in-house quality control methods
• Ability to differentiate between requirements for in-process and final testing
• Ability to identify the products, their manufacturing process, specifications & end use Ability to conduct measurement systems analysis (MSA)
• Ability to understand methods for identifying and evaluating health & safety hazards and risks.
• Perform office administration tasks at an advanced level (PC and record keeping/creating systems)
• Handle all Sulzer intellectual information in a confidential manner
