Job Description

This role is individually accountable for achieving results through others, over periods of 3 months to a year.
The focus is the following: execution of the business plan and for governance and compliance at an operational level, preparation of management reports, provision of interpretation of financial data and predictive results, implementation of accounting processes, systems, and controls within the sales channels and is responsible for the distribution and overhead expense management.

• Managing the Mass Foundation Life distribution channels and other overhead expenses.
• Develops, reports on and interprets cost drivers, KPIs and benchmarks.
• Improving the efficiency of the management reporting function.
• Identifying unusual trends or anomalies that require further analysis, explanation, and/or corrective action.
• Interacts with business unit line managers on financial outcomes, expense trends, etc.
• Examining and reviewing financial information for accuracy, completeness, and validity.
• Provides insights on the drivers for the results, as well as variances to the business plan, prior year, and prior month.
• Monthly income statement analysis and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Enabling channel heads to make business decisions through financial information.
• Liaising with various stakeholders to ensure completeness of expenses.
• Providing finance business partner support to internal stakeholders.
• Managing financial and business risk.
• Assisting staff to prepare management financial information.
• Responsible for variance analyses as well as financial cost analysis.
• Monthly, quarterly, and yearly budgets and forecasts.
• Assisting with and resolving internal and external audit queries.
• Responsible for the monthly Channel Expense Index profitability analyses reports.
• Implementation of internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with Group Policies and relevant accounting standards are adhered to.

Requirements

• 5 years + of experience as a Management Accountant
• CA qualification would be advantageous
• Technically inclined, including in the application of IFRS and management accounting principles
