    Micro Lab Technician

    Purpose of the role :

    To improve the quality of the finished products, by analysing, controlling, troubleshooting and improving the quality of brewing materials, the brewing process and finished product. 

    • Analyse and improve customer satisfaction by performing surveys and handling customer complaints.Ensures consistent and accurate microbiological analysis.
    • Ensure accurate microbiological techniques in compliance with Heineken laboratory standards.
    • Maintain microbiological testing to conform to sampling plan.
    • Ensure timely analysis and reporting to ensure no delays to production.
    • Maintain laboratory information systems.
    • Maintain the microbiological laboratory equipment to a professional standard.
    • Maintain microbiological testing equipment and facilities to comply with Heineken standards.
    • Ensure calibration schedules are kept to schedule.
    • Ensure compliance with laboratory best practices.
    • Ensure equipment for microbiological analysis is hygienically cleaned.
    • Assist development of Brewing and Packaging Staff with respect to microbiological control and basic hygiene.
    • Monitor and communicate process outputs using visual management techniques.
    • Coach staff in basic hygiene and food safety.
    • Ensure a safe working environment and practices within the different requirements.
    • Ensure safe laboratory practices including safe chemical handling and storage.
    • Ensure safe disposal of all completed microbiological samples.
    • Analyse and trend brewing information and initiate appropriate action.
    • Identify and eliminate all unsafe, unhealthy and environmentally damaging conditions and work practices.
    • Ensure compliance to ISO9001 standards.
    • Promote safety awareness.
    • Ensure the department operates within company SHE standards and OHS Act, through continued education and training and obtaining the co-operation and commitment of all staff to observe all safety rules, procedures and processes in order to drive zero accident mentality.

    Qualification

    • National Diploma  in Bio Technology/Microbiology

    Experience

    • 2-3 years relevant working experience
